1. You know, going on excursions to different towns and cities is one of my favourite ways of spending free time. 2. And I always take photos to memorize views and sights I visit. 3. I took this photo last summer when I was visiting Moscow, the capital of my country, Russia. 4. It's gracious, isn't it? 5. It was a really warm and sunny day and I was walking along the embankment of the Moskva river. 6. I was really captured by the sight that laid before my eyes. 7. A small white excursion boat was slowly floating towards the Kremlin, the heart of the city and the country. 8. It looked gorgeous even from the place I stood. 9. Its brick towers and walls hidden by the green trees and bushes in some places underline the beauty of the Great Kremlin Palace and gold domes of Kremlin cathedrals. 10. The view made me halt my breath. 11. I couldn't help taking the photo of such a wonderful scene. 12. I suppose I decided to show this picture to you because it shows the symbol of Russia so familiar and so different we're used to at the same time.
13. Moscow has lots of sights that attract thousands of tourists but the only one of them, the Kremlin, makes feel pride of the city and the country I live in. 14. I hope my picture can become a part of your collection of photos of cities and towns of different countries.
Task 4. Study the two photographs. In 1.5 minutes be ready to compare and contrast the photographs:
• give a brief description of the photos (action, location) • say what the pictures have in common • say in what way the pictures are different • say which of the football matches presented in the pictures you'd watch • explain why

I am to compare and contrast two pictures united by one and the same theme: sport and, to be exact, football.

In the left picture
I can see a football match between two professional clubs as the uniform the players are dressed in is different and every player has his name printed on the T-shirt.

It may be a match of the country championship or of some European Cup.

In the right-hand picture I can see a football match between two amateur children teams.

They are wearing special sport clothes.
6.
They may be some secondary or sport school teams.

The photos are quite similar in many ways.

I should say they have more similarities than differences.

They are similar because they show two teams which are in a certain type of activity.

Both teams are playing the match at the stadium.
11.
Each picture illustrates the hot moment of the match.
12.
Both pictures shot the moment of the match when a forward is dribbling a football trying to deceive the player of an opposing team in order to reach the goal.
13. Nevertheless,
the pictures are different in a number of ways.
14.
The obvious difference is that on the left the team is an adult one while on the right the children's one.
15.
Though both teams are playing on the stadium the stadiums are different.
16.
The adult team is performing the game on a big sport arena whereas children are playing on school stadium.
17.
Moreover, if in the first picture the player is trying to oppose the forward and make a barrier for him then in the second picture the players of opposing team are only rushing after the forward trying to overtake him.

I prefer the match in the right picture to the match on the left.
