“Health is the greatest wealth”-
epigraph to the lesson. I. T: Hello everybody! I’m so happy to see you today. How are you? I hope that you will be interested in the subject of our today’s discussion, which is “Healthy way of life”. Today I want you to make a role model of a healthy man. It means that you should make a project work on the topic of our today’s lesson. Now I want you to answer my questions: 1. What does health mean to you? 2. Is there anything more important than health? I don’t think so, because you can’t be good at your studies or work well when you are ill. Children, will you read the epigraph to our lesson? How do you understand it? “Health is the greatest wealth”. II. T: Of course, physical exercises are very important for everybody. Some of you go in for sports. Please answer my questions: what kind of sport do you go in for? What other kinds of sports do you know? You have physical training lesson at your school. Do you like this subject? Why do you like it? Does it help you to be healthy? Name me please sports that need a ball. I am glad that you know what an important role takes sport in our life. III. T: Now what can you say about healthy food? What food must you eat to be healthy? Let’s divide the food we eat into 2 groups: Healthy food Unhealthy food Fruits Fast food Meat Different fizzy drinks
Milk Chips Eggs Ice-cream Vegetables fish are full of vitamins and proteins Don’t contain any vitamins T: Do you agree that we need healthy food? IV. T: But there are many other factors that influence our health. A) Read the text please. Indoor pollution People have known since ancient times that there is a link between pollution and poor health. Many scientists believe our health is in trouble, because we have had polluted land, air and water for too long. But most citizens have the greatest contact with toxic pollutants not outside but inside their homes, offices and cars. The main sources of indoor pollutants are right under people’s noses – dry- cleaned clothes, dusty carpets, fumes from cooking and heating and cigarette smoke. Of course this list is incomplete. Indoor air and house dust are full of poisons that can be carried in on people’s shoes. Carpets are most troublesome. They contain dangerous pollutants and bacteria, even if people vacuum them regularly. Wiping one’s feet on a door- mat reduces the amount of pollutants in a carpet by a factor of six. But if you remove your shoes before entering it is even more effective. These acts are very simple, but useful. B) NowtranslatethewordsintoEnglish: древний, связь, загрязнение, плохое здоровье, ученые, верить, в опасности, горожане, ядовитые, источники, домашние загрязнители, дым, опасный, бактерии, чистить, вытирать, количество. C) Fill in necessary words: 1) People have known since ancient times, that there is … between … and poor health. 2) Most citizens have the greatest contact with … pollutants … their homes, offices and cars. 3) The main sources of … are right under people’s noses. 4) Carpets are most … . 5) They contain … pollutants and … . 6) Wiping one’s feet on a door-mat reduces the … of pollutants in a carpet. 7) But if you … your shoes before entering, it is even more effective. T: I hope that now you’ve got some helpful information about indoor pollution. V. T: Now let’s imagine that somebody has fallen ill. He caught a cold. What useful home remedies would you advice? For example, hot tea or milk with honey. What should person do if? -he has a headache; (drink herbal tea or have a rest) -he has a cough; (drink warm milk or take some honey) -he has a burn; (put the burn under cold water, but don’t put ice on the burn) -he has a cut; (use a bandage)
You should give an advice: If you have a headache, you should … Ok, thank you very much. Let’s do some puzzle. In this square you must find the names of 7 illnesses, 5 accidents and 9 parts of the body. VI. Well done, now answer my question: what can you say about bad habits? Smoking, drinking alcohol, taking drugs, eating fat food and many others. Do you think that these factors influence our health? Of course they are, they influence our specific organs. For example, smoking is bad for lungs, skin, and heart. Drinking alcohol is bad for liver, heart, central nervous system, stomach. Taking drugs causes a lot of problems, our memory, behavior, VII. We talked about healthy way of life. I hope that you get more information about healthy lifestyle. Now let’s see what we have, take your sheets.
