I.М.И.: Hello, children! I know you like to learn English. You read, write and speak English well. Today we’ll

travel in the UK. But first say what the UK is.

Вика: The UK is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The UK consists of four parts:

England, Scotland, Wales and a part of Ireland. England is the largest and the reachest country of the UK. The

capital of England is London. Scotland is the country in the north of the UK. The capital of Scotland is

Edinburgh. Wales is the country in the west of the UK. Cardiff was chosen as the capital of Wales. The capital

of Northern Ireland is Belfast.

Оля: As you know the symbol of England is rose, the symbol of Scotland is thistle, the symbol of Wales is

daffodil and the symbol of Northern Ireland is shamrock. This country attracts a lot of tourists because it is very

beautiful and interesting. So we will make a tour around one wonderful city of the UK.

II. А.В.: Let’s play a game. Use the first letters of the names of the things you see in the pictures and you will

Look at the map of our travel. (слайд 2) We’ll visit museums, monuments and learn some traditions. And our

first bus stop is museums. (слайд 3) Some our students will tell us about it. Let’s listen them.

Настя Кацеро: (слайд 4) The British Museum was founded in 1753. It tells us about history of people and

culture. It has unique collections of maps, coins, medals, stamps, ceramics, prints and drawings, etc. It has

nearly 8 million objects in its collection. It has one of the largest libraries in the world – the British Library.

Андрей Бирюков: (слайд 5) Imperial War Museum has a big collection of military machines such as tanks

and aeroplanes and many original uniforms of soldiers.

Даниил Бавкун: (слайд 6) National Gallery is an art museum which has more than 2,300 paintings.

Madam Tussaud’s Museum. In this museum you can see the wax models of great characters in history and art.

Андрей Поленок: (слайд 8) Natural History Museum is famous for its exhibition of dinosaur skeletons. It has

five main collections: botany, entomology, mineralogy, paleontology and zoology.

Андрей Сальников: (слайд 9) London Transport Museum . From uniforms, posters and tickets to horse

buses, electric trams and trolley buses – all these things you can find in this museum.

III. М.И.: (слайд 10) Our second bus stop is monuments. And now Marina tells us about Big Ben.

Марина: (слайд 11) Big Ben is the symbol of the United Kingdom. It’s the most popular landmark in Great

Britain. It’s the main clock in the UK. You can hear the deep boom of it on the BBC channel. It weighs 13,720

kilograms.

М.И.: Now look at the screen. You can see Tower Bridge (слайд 12), Buckingham Palace (слайд 13), St Paul’s

Cathedral (слайд 14), Houses of Parliament (слайд 15), Westminster Palace (слайд 16).
